United States

The U.S. EPA primary standards for PM10 are:

24 hour average 150µg/std m3
Annual average 50µg/std m3

EPA reference Conditions:
Standard temperature defined as 298K (25°C)
Standard pressure defined as 101.3 kPa (760mm Hg)

The U.S. EPA primary standards for PM2.5 are:

3-year average of 98th percentile of 24 hour average 65µg/std m3
3-year average of annual average mean 15µg/std m3

The total volume of air sampled is determined by the sampler from the measured flow rate at actual ambient temperature and pressure and the sampling time.

Note: The U.S. EPA reference method for PM2.5 is the method specified in the U.S. EPA Code of Federal Regulations 40 Part 50 Appendix L; Federal Reference Method for the Determination of Fine Particulate Matter as PM2.5 in the Atmosphere.

Australia - High Volume PM10

The Australian National Environmental Protection Council has established the following objectives for Particles as PM10:

24 hour average

Maximum concentration: 50µg/std m3
Maximum allowable excedances: 5 days per year

Australian reference conditions:
Standard temperature defined as 273K (0°C)
Standard pressure defined as 101.3 kPa (760mm Hg)
